Vortigaunt RP
________________________________________
Introduction:
If you are reading this, you have just become, or are wishing to become a Vortigaunt. Read on for information..

Vortigaunt RP is a very difficult RP, and should only be attempted by someone who is skilled at RP. Vortigaunts are an Alien race from Xen, Teleported here after the Black Mesa Incident. The combine use them as slaves to work and supply power. Humans rescue Vortigaunts, and for this they are Thankful. Vortigaunts have a wide array of powers and abilities, including some other quirks...

Language
Vortigaunts possess their own native form of vocal communication, which, in Half-Life 2, is referred to as "flux shifting", and can be heard in rare instances when two Vortigaunts are engaged in conversation. This method of communication likely involves frequencies which are not discernible to the human ear.According to the Vortigaunts, flux shifting cannot be understood by "those whose Vortal inputs are impaired", which may suggest that other inaudible components are involved, perhaps explaining why it is incomprehensible to humans. One of the most fantastic and enthralling examples of flux shifting is during the aftermath of the first Hunter attack in Half-Life 2: Episode Two, when the Vortigaunt that saves Alyx calls out over an immense distance to communicate with its kin, using two short but apparently highly descriptive calls.

Vortigaunts do not speak like Humans, they have their own Language, but also can speak disjointed English. The Vortigaunts English is normally comprised of very large words, sometimes in odd places. Here is an example:
"Can I have that drink?" - BAD
"May I savor the liquids from the bottle you appear to own?" - Good
Remember this constantly, As it is very important for Vortigaunts.

Powers:
You have several Role-played powers. They are listed here:
half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Vortigaunt
In a more shorter way:
Vortigaunts have two modes of attack: an energy attack in which they fire powerful green lightning-like energy beams that require a vulnerable period of "charging-up" before being unleashed, and when close to opponents, a claw attack.

The Vortigaunts are able to read and control this force for their electrical powers, nearly hive-mind telepathy and, likely, their ability to take power from objects. They can use their powers coupled with "the extract" of Antlion larvae to bring the nearly dead back to life (however, it is shown in Episode Two that they cannot do this alone).

The beam attack is revealed fully in Episode Two,it is shown to be powerful enough to kill Antlions and Zombies, and causes a shock wave strong enough to knock over other nearby foes.

In the beginning of Half-Life 2: Episode One, a group of Vortigaunts free Gordon from the G-Man and save Alyx from certain death after the explosion of the Citadel's Dark Fusion Reactor, teleporting both of them to the relative safety of the center of City 17, just outside the Citadel - revealing the Vortigaunts may be more powerful than previously speculated, even to the point of challenging the G-Man.

The purple color of the Vortigaunts at the beginning appears to be a side effect of the filters and lighting used in that scene. The conclusion that is best supported is that the Vortigaunts are purple-colored because they are operating on some other plane of existence. The supporting evidence is that during the explosion where Alyx is rescued, the Vortigaunts appear purple-colored and semi-translucent although the rest of the scene is unfiltered and lit with realistic lighting.

The Vortigaunt proves an invaluable companion; it kick-starts generators (indicating they may power up electrical currents) by giving them an electric jolt, charges up HEV Suits or any other mechanical suit such as Combine.

Vortigaunts are able to regain health by damaging objects or enemies, supporting the theory that Vortigaunts can drain life force/energy with their beam attacks.

Enslaved Vortigaunts:
If you are caught as a Vortigaunt, the combine will take you into the DB and place a suppression device on you. This prevents you from using powers, like Vort essence and Electricity. The combine will make you clean up the streets and other menial tasks.

Being enslaved should be the LAST thing you want to do as a Vortigaunt.
________________________________________
Rules of the Vortigaunts:
1. Do not Jump, crouch or swim as a Vortigaunt.
2. Stay in the base. Do not run out and get enslaved.
3. Do not go out and shock every CP you see. If you need to attack, use your claws as well.
________________________________________
Names:
Vortigaunts do not have names like "Smith" or "John", they use the names they were born with, which are normally comprised of short words.
Examples:
• Tuk'Ko'Ran
• Kar'Ret'Tok
• Tar'la'Cha

Thank you for reading this short guide, if you have any suggestions on how I can improve this guide please feel free to post in this thread.

Good, but I think you just copy and pasted the same guide from the last forums, and it is a bit unorganized, before I add this to the Vortigaunt thread, you will probably need to.

1. Spell check your words.
2. Put the appropriate bolds and italics to the words.
3. Possibly add in a bit more information.

Also, I never knew that Vortigaunts can actually take other peoples health and such?
